Snow Expedition

So as most who live in Texas know, there were record snows last week. There was also snow in 49 of the 50 states. Staring at the snowfall from my studio, I felt that I was wasting my day, as well as missing out on the powdery precipitation. So I suited up with some of my Russian Expedition snow gear, covered my camera in waterproof body armor, and headed out through some neighboring woods. When I emerged, these are a few of the images that I came out with.

As the midnight hour approached, the storm slowed, and created an eerie calm. The low lying clouds reflected the artificial light from the larger DFW area, creating a strange quality of light that lured me out into the streets once more. I wandered around the Cedars area, even making a stop at Lee Harvey’s, and headed home about 3 AM. It is not only a blessing to experience such snowfall, but more so to be drawn outside by an irresistible light source, and be so inspired to take photographs.
